Electric mobilisation
Transport is one of the main contributors to air pollution in the city, thus, in order to create a green and healthy capital, we want to promote electric mobilisation and see more electric vehicles on the streets. How will we achieve this?
As many charging stations as possible
The capital is rapidly moving towards electro-mobilisation to become a green and modern city. By 2030, the municipality aims to install public electric vehicle charging stations within 500 m of each other in densely populated areas of the city. This is an important step to promote the use of electric vehicles in the city and reduce air pollution. You can see the list of stations, charging prices and other information relevant to electric vehucle drivers on the interactive map. Information on the nearest public charging stations, their characteristics, availability and prices is also available on the website of Via Lietuva AB.
Two types of charging stations will be installed in the city:
- on lighting poles that will be operational during the dark hours;
- stationary, available 24 hours a day.
This will allow drivers to conveniently charge their electric vehicles at any time of the day.
Electric transport
In 2022, 15 electric minibuses rolled out into the streets of Vilnius, completing more than 393,000 journeys in half a year. The integration of these buses into the public transport system has helped to extend the availability of public transport. The number of journeys made is clear evidence that sustainable buses are not only suitable for the residents of Vilnius city, but also popular among the residents of Vilnius city.
In addition, 297 new electric buses will be on the streets of Vilnius by 2028. This innovation will not only reduce air pollution, but also improve the public transport system, allowing citizens to travel in a quieter and more environmentally-friendly manner.
Vilnius has also taken another important step by putting its first autonomous electric truck on the streets. It made a demonstration run along Gedimino Avenue from the Ministry of Transport and Communications to the Cathedral Square, showing what sustainable and innovative urban freight transport could look like in the future.
The plans for electric mobilisation and innovative solutions of Vilnius suggest that the city is striving to become environmentally friendly and liveable.
We invite all citizens to join the green revolution by using public transport and electric vehicles to contribute to a cleaner and healthier city.
What can you do?
We invite everyone in the city to join the green revolution by trying out an electric vehicle or electric public transport and getting to know the electric vehicle infrastructure in your area. You can contribute to a cleaner and healthier city!
