Vilnius City Public Health Bureau Vilnius Healthier together with “Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025” invites everyone to join the campaign and the month-long challenge MOVE FOR LIFE (Lith. MINK UŽ GYVENIMĄ).

To mark the World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), we invite everyone to get moving in the period from 1 August to 1 September—to ride, run, walk and collect kilometres, and in this way to paint the World Suicide Prevention Day symbol, a bicycle. Every kilometre you ride, run or walk will be a symbol of support for people who have faced the threat of suicide in one way or another.

The 2025 campaign focuses on helping relatives who have lost a loved one to suicide or are currently facing the risk of suicide. The campaign aims to focus on the bereaved, the people whose lives have been profoundly changed by this loss. Suicide affects not only family members, but also friends, colleagues, neighbours or other close family members—anyone who cared about the person lost.

The campaign aims to encourage an open dialogue about the emotional difficulties experienced by loved ones, reduce the stigma associated with suicide, raise public awareness about bereavement after suicide and encourage people to seek for help or help to get it for those most in need. The focus is on ensuring that bereaved people are not left alone and know where to look for help.

Studies have shown that a single suicide can directly affect from five to 15 people. In 2024, this figure ranged from 2,830 to 8,490 people in Lithuania, and from 345 to 1,035 in Vilnius.

During the movement challenge, you will learn how physical activity contributes to mental health, learn about common myths related to suicide in society and see other relevant and useful information that contributes to suicide prevention.

Everyone who joins the challenge and fulfils the conditions of the competition will have a chance to win two invitations to the performance STAND-UP FOR MEANING AND MEANINGLESSNESS at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre on 10 September and other prizes established by Vilnius Healthier in cooperation with “Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025”.
