Starting this week, a special exhibition of student graphic design works is on display at VILNIUS TECH, centered around the theme “Vilnius – European Green Capital 2025.” Visitors will witness the impressive ideas that emerge where creativity meets technology.

Every year, third-year multimedia and computer design students are given the task of creating a photo collage using image editing software.

“In the Image Analysis Techniques course, students learn how different image editing applications operate and how to work with them at the pixel level. The main assignment during the semester is to work in groups to demonstrate their ability to use them. To make the assignment more interesting and meaningful, we always come up with a topic that would be relevant to Lithuania or Vilnius.

During this task, students become the characters of their own photo collages. They take photos of themselves, search for additional photos on the internet, create an image idea, draw sketches and try to demonstrate it in their collage. In this way, they learn photography, the art of working with light and other skills, and show how they have learned to work with different image formats”, Dr Rytė Žiūrienė, lecturer of Image Analysis Methods and the exhibition curator, explained.

Throughout the semester, students don’t see each other’s work, so the exhibition is the first time they get to view it and valuate using the Eurovision-style points system to highlight the best pieces. This way, they see how others are doing, learn from them, and grow, the curator clarifies.

The exhibition is on display in the 3rd floor corridor of Building S2 (moving to Building S3). The works will be on display until May next year.
