Renovating buildings is not just about aesthetics. It is one of the most effective ways to save energy and contribute to the fight against climate change. Poor insulation, leaky walls and windows make old houses leak heat. As a result, energy that uses the Earth’s resources is wasted every day.

We believe that modernisation of multi-apartment buildings is one of the most effective ways of tackling many problems.

  • Renovated buildings are more sustainable, which saves energy and the planet’s resources. In addition to the economic benefits, renovation contributes to the fight against climate change. A renovated apartment in a 60m2 building emits around one tonne less carbon dioxide per heating season. This is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the city and of each of us personally.
  • And the building’s occupants save up to 40-70% less on heating bills than before the renovation. Renovated multi-apartment buildings are a much more attractive investment because their value increases. This means that renovation pays for itself not only through lower energy costs but also through increased value of the property.
  • Living in renovated homes means fewer accidents and unplanned disconnections of electricity, water or heating, so residents can live more comfortably and feel safer. Renovation also helps avoid unexpected repair costs, as renovated buildings have fewer breakdowns.

It is worth welcoming the fact that Vilnius is making rapid progress in its efforts to modernise multi-apartment buildings and improve the living environment in the city. To date, 151,000 m of2 sites have already been renovated and 39 applications for renovation have been submitted.
